1:31 p.m. CST: Okay, Air Force just scored a field goal to make it 24-14 Falcons. This live-blogging thing is too hard without any help. I’ll see you after the game.
12:40 p.m. CST: Kevin Riley is ballin’. Touchdown pass to the Hawk. Air Force 21 Cal 14.
12:26 p.m. CST: Jackson’s first drive…Riley’s first drive…Riley finds Jackson on a 40-yard touchdown and at least for now, the Bears aren’t going to get blown out. Cal 7 Air Force 21.
Also, can I say quarterback controversy? It’s going to be a great spring…
12:22 p.m. CST: Kevin Riley in at QB for Cal. DeSean’s in also.
12:19 p.m. CST: Air Force has more to play for (a 10-win season) while Cal doesn’t and it’s starting to show. Touchdown Falcons on option play. Air Force 21 Cal 0.
12:16 p.m. CST: Ooops…Air Force recovers kickoff.
12:12 p.m. CST: Insult to injury, a passing touchdown for the Falcons. Air Force 14 Cal 0.
12:08 p.m. CST: Thomas DeCoud enters the game. Like it’s going to help…
12:06 p.m. CST END FIRST: End first Air Force 7, Cal 0. So far the Bears still can’t stop the Air Force option attack. Air Force has thrown the ball once. Cal has done a good job mixing it up offensively, but has stalled when it’s gotten close to the end zone.
12:00 p.m. CST: By the way, Bears QB Nate Longshore looks sharp. However, his wideouts need to catch the ball.
11:42 a.m. CST: Cal can’t stop the option. It’s going to be a long game (actually short, if Air Force keeps running the option). Touchdown Air Force. Falcons 7, Cal 0.
11:10 a.m. CST Pregame: Captains for today’s game for Cal, Syd’Quan Thompson, Craig Stevens, Greg Van Hoesen and Justin Forsett.
Also, free safety Brett Johnson, wide receiver Sam DeSa and wideout Lavelle Hawkins will get the start for DeCoud, Jackson and Jordan.
There’s also a lot of blue in the stands, but it’s Air Force blue.
10:54 a.m. CST Pregame: There are many helicopters flying very low by the stadium. Yes, the title sponsor of the Armed Forces Bowl is Bell Helicopters. I guess if you’re not used to those things flying that low, it can be exciting. Maybe.
10:33 a.m. CST Pregame: Hello from high above Amon G. Carter Stadium. It’s Gerald Nicdao, one of the beat writers for the Cal football team.
It’s Cal’s final game of the year and Bears (6-6) are looking for their sixth consecutive winning season, something that hasn’t been done since Pappy Waldorf was the head coach.
A couple of things as I watch Cal warm-up. First, defensive end Rulon Davis was kicking 50-yard field goals. I don’t know what that means, but if all the kickers went down, I guess he can take over.
Also, the Bears don’t have names on their jerseys. I guess if you lose six of your last seven and you’re trying to bring the team together, you have to go sans-name on the jerseys.
And yes, wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Robert Jordan and safety Thomas DeCoud will not start because of violating team rules.
