Seventh Heaven
baseball March 31st. 2008, 9:22amAfter sweeping then-No. 5 Long Beach State this past weekend, the Cal baseball team has climbed into the Baseball America top 10. In the latest rankings, the Bears came in at No. 7, the second-highest Pac-10 team behind No. 1 Arizona State (25-1, 3-0 in the Pac-10). If anyone can remember the last time Cal was ranked this high, feel free to let me know, because the baseball team isn’t as fanatic about keeping those kinds of things around as the football team. But I’m sure it’s the highest this team’s been in at least the last 10 years. On a not-so-happy note, senior second baseman Josh Satin had his 27-game hitting streak snapped on Sunday. He established a new school record, but will not reach the mystical 30-game mark. Oh well, he’s still hitting a team-high .446 with nine home runs and a team-leading 30 RBI.
